The Opportunity:
MMB+CO is seeking a Firmwide Resource Manager to join our Fairport office. This role serves as the Firm's primary resource planning and capacity management professional, responsible for providing firmwide workforce deployment analysis, resource forecasting, scheduling strategy, and operational decision support across Tax and Assurance service lines. Closer Look At The Role:
Serve as the firm's primary resource planning professional, overseeing workforce deployment, capacity management, and scheduling strategy across Tax and Assurance service lines and all office locations. Analyze staffing demands, engagement requirements, utilization trends, and capacity constraints to develop resource allocation strategies and recommendations for firm leadership. Lead firmwide resource planning efforts by balancing workloads, optimizing utilization, and recommending staffing solutions that support business objectives, client commitments, and employee development. Evaluate competing staffing priorities, resource requests, and scheduling conflicts, exercising independent judgment and escalating matters requiring leadership decisions. Monitor project schedules, workload demands, staffing commitments, and workforce capacity, proactively identifying risks, constraints, and opportunities for improved resource deployment. Partner with Tax and Assurance leadership to assess workforce needs and provide recommendations regarding staffing requirements, utilization improvements, cross-training opportunities, hiring needs, and resource deployment strategies. Review and approve paid time off requests in consideration of business needs, staffing availability, project commitments, and departmental coverage requirements. Analyze personnel capabilities, availability, experience, and development objectives to recommend staffing assignments and resource reallocations as business priorities evolve. Maintain a comprehensive view of firmwide capacity, workload forecasts, utilization trends, project deadlines, and anticipated staffing needs, providing timely insights and recommendations to leadership. Evaluate workforce trends, utilization data, and staffing challenges to support workforce planning, retention, recruiting, succession planning, and cross-training initiatives. Serve as the firm's resource planning systems lead, ensuring the integrity of scheduling, capacity, and staffing data while supporting informed resource allocation and workforce planning decisions. Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and analytics related to capacity, utilization, workload distribution, staffing needs, and other key workforce planning metrics. Establish and maintain resource planning standards, scheduling methodologies, governance practices, and operational procedures that promote consistency, visibility, and effective decision-making across the firm. Evaluate and improve resource management processes, workflows, technologies, and reporting capabilities to enhance operational efficiency and workforce effectiveness. Participate in cross-functional initiatives involving Tax, Assurance, Human Resources, Technology, Learning & Development, and Firm Leadership to support strategic operational objectives and continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications:
Associate degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience. A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in resource management, workforce planning, project scheduling, practice operations, professional services operations, capacity planning, or a related field. Demonstrated experience analyzing workload, capacity, utilization, and staffing data to support operational decision-making. Experience working with scheduling, workflow, practice-management, project-management, resource-management, or comparable business systems. Demonstrated ability to analyze workload, capacity, and scheduling information and identify potential issues or conflicts. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify trends, risks, and resource constraints. Strong proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, particularly Excel. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively with personnel at all levels of an organization, including partners and senior leadership. Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and manage sensitive personnel and capacity information appropriately.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree (B.S. or B.A.) in Business Administration, Operations Management, Human Resources, Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field. Experience in a CPA firm, public accounting firm, professional services organization, consulting firm, law firm, or another deadline-driven professional services environment. Experience supporting resource management or scheduling across multiple offices or geographic locations. Experience managing resources across multiple business units, departments, or service lines. Experience with professional-services workflow, practice-management, or resource-management software. Experience using data analysis, reporting, dashboards, Power Query, Power BI, or comparable reporting tools. Experience participating in a software implementation, workflow conversion, or business-process improvement initiative. Experience with workforce planning, utilization analysis, capacity planning, or professional staffing. Project management, business analysis, Lean Six Sigma, or related training or certification.
