About the role
Email & Sms Marketing Strategist This role owns the end-to-end strategy and execution of email and SMS marketing campaigns, from concept and audience planning through deployment and performance analysis. You'll combine creative thinking with strong analytical skills to deliver personalized, data-driven customer communications. The role offers hands-on ownership of enterprise marketing platforms, campaign testing, segmentation, and optimization. You'll collaborate closely with content, design, marketing, and other teams to translate business goals into effective multi-channel campaigns. Success will be measured through engagement, conversion, list health, and continuous improvement of campaign performance. The position also provides opportunities to contribute to broader digital marketing initiatives, including direct mail, social integrations, and data management. This is a remote U.S. opportunity with occasional travel for team gatherings.
Accountabilities:
Plan, build, test, and launch end-to-end email and SMS campaigns, ensuring high-quality execution, regulatory compliance, and strong list hygiene. Develop and maintain responsive, mobile-friendly email templates using HTML and CSS, including dynamic content and advanced segmentation capabilities. Create sophisticated audience segments using subscriber behavior, demographics, and other relevant data to support personalized messaging. Monitor campaign performance through metrics such as open rates, click-through rates, and opt-out rates, using insights to identify optimization opportunities. Design and execute A/B tests across subject lines, messaging, layouts, and other campaign elements, then interpret results to improve engagement and conversion. Serve as a key point of contact for email and SMS campaign requirements, partnering with content, design, and marketing stakeholders to align communications with organizational objectives. Manage campaign timelines, assets, dependencies, and cross-functional deliverables to meet milestones and performance targets. Maintain awareness of digital marketing trends, platform developments, and industry best practices, sharing relevant knowledge with colleagues. Support integrations involving direct mail, social media, marketing automation, and data management to strengthen the broader channel strategy. Ensure campaigns comply with applicable email and SMS regulations, including CAN-SPAM, TCPA, and GDPR.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field required; a master's degree is preferred.5+ years of experience managing email and SMS marketing campaigns using enterprise platforms such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud and Attentive. Strong proficiency in HTML and CSS, including the ability to build and troubleshoot responsive, mobile-friendly email templates. Demonstrated expertise in audience segmentation and data analysis, with the ability to use subscriber behavior and demographics to develop targeted campaigns. Experience planning, executing, and analyzing A/B tests to optimize campaign performance. Strong project management skills and experience coordinating complex, multi-layered campaigns across cross-functional teams. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting information and recommendations to senior stakeholders. Working knowledge of email and SMS marketing regulations, including CAN-SPAM, TCPA, and GDPR.Active involvement in an evangelical Christian church. Willingness and ability to travel to the Middle Tennessee area approximately 2–4 times per year for team gatherings. Preferred experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud features such as Journey Builder, Data Extensions, AMPscript, and Marketing Cloud Connect. Familiarity with analytics and reporting tools, marketing automation platforms, and testing technologies is a plus. Exposure to Java Script for advanced campaign development and dynamic content, as well as direct mail and social media integrations, is preferred.
