About the role

About Our College Talent Network The a 16z College Talent Network partners with current undergraduate and graduate software engineering students to help them reach their professional goals. We work with universities around the country to identify students who are talented and passionate about tech–and who we think will excel in a startup environment. Students who are accepted into the network will have access to our College Talent team and resources, which includes mentorship, advice, and a connected community of students, founders, and more. Once you’re in the Collect Talent Network, our broader Talent Network team is your entry point to working with a 16z throughout all stages of your career–from intern to executive. This role posting is an application to join our talent network and is not an application for a specific internship or full-time position. Perks of Our College Talent Network Once you’re part of the network, our team will be here to mentor you, offer guidance as you navigate career decisions, help you with your resume, or even get your pitch deck into the right hands at a 16z if you’ve got a great idea for a startup. You’ll also be invited to our events, where you’ll have the opportunity to meet other students, founders, portfolio company members, and more. From tech talks to private dinners, we create opportunities to build relationships.
Requirements: The program is open to junior and senior, master’s, and Ph. D. students who are majoring in computer science or similar fields. Strong software development, project management, and/or design skills are table stakes. Great grades are a plus, but we look beyond the GPA and look for a certain scrappiness that will excel in a startup environment.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
